Centres of Excellence (COEs) are international military organisations that train and educate leaders and specialists from NATO member and partner countries. They offer recognised expertise and experience that is of benefit to the Alliance, and support the transformation of NATO. There has been 28 COE certified to date.
It is increasingly important that the Alliance communicates in an appropriate, timely, accurate and responsive manner on its evolving roles, objectives and missions. Strategic communication is an integral part of our efforts to achieve the Alliance’s political and military objectives.
The Centre provides comprehensive analyses, timely advice and practical support to the Alliance, designs programs to advance doctrine development, conducts research and experimentation to find practical solutions to existing challenges. Part of our analysis and research is available, if you click here.
There are many definitions that define Strategic Communications. Current NATO approved definition of Strategic Communications says that Strategic Communication is the coordinated and appropriate use of NATO communications activities and capabilities - Public Diplomacy, Public Affairs, Military Public Affairs, Information Operations and Psychological Operations, as appropriate - in support of Alliance policies, operations and activities, and in order to advance NATO’s aims.
