Over the last three years the NATO Strategic Communications COE has continued to research Russia’s influence activities against Ukraine and the West. Our researches concludes that Russia is employing a variety of means and methods both direct and indirect, through a wide range of actors and channels, in a way that affects national security interests. At this event our latest research into this influence was presented, with a focus on narratives that the Kremlin has been cultivating over a long period in order to achieve its strategic aims.

The event covered such topics as:

  • The Russian concept of fascism – how it is interpreted and exploited
  • Which activities, phenomena, policies, groups and individuals Russia labels as “fascist”
  • Assess Russia’s intent to use fascism as foreign policy instrument towards Baltic States and Ukraine
  • The dynamics of Russia’s information activities against Ukraine in the context of Syria
  • Identify narratives and topics employed by Russia;
  • Assess the changes of intensity of information activities over the Syrian period.
  • The Russia`s efforts to portray NATO as a party of the Ukraine conflict
