Director Jānis Sārts presented a lecture entitled "Enhancing Strategic Communication" to the participants of the Senior Leaders’ Engagement course at the Baltic Defence College on 5 November.
The Senior Leaders’ Engagement course is a pilot project initiated by the Baltic Defence College. It aims to be a ‘capstone’ of education within the Baltic states' professional military education programme, particularly designed for flag officers and their civilian colleagues from national ministries of defence and foreign affairs. The academic programme is organised by Col. Igors Rajevs, Director of Engagement the Baltic Defence College, and the Department of Political and Strategic Studies. The course will be taught by college faculty and esteemed guest speakers.
The focus of the Senior Leaders’ Engagement course is on strategic changes in the wider Baltic region, a geographic area understood to include the Baltic and Nordic states in interaction with important stakeholders like Germany, Poland, and the United Kingdom. The Senior Leaders’ Engagement course, therefore, includes participants from across this increasingly important geopolitical region.
Lecturers include Prof. Gwythian Prins, Emeritus Professor of the London School of Economics, Gen. Sverre Diesen, former Norwegian Chief of Defence, and Mr M. Riekstiņš, Latvian Permanent Representative to NATO (2011-2015).
