An international conference, “Latvia’s NATO Membership and the Benefits for the Society and Economy”, was held on 19th March, in Riga, Latvia. The conference was organised by the Latvian Transatlantic Organisation (LATO) in cooperation with the Federation of Security and Defence Industries of Latvia, and supported by the NATO Public Diplomacy Division. Deputy Director Colonel Aivar Jaeski spoke at the panel “National and International Defence exposed to the New Generation Warfare: Reactionary of pre-emptive?”.

The one-day conference gathered experts, decision makers and representatives of the defence industry to discuss prospects and development of the defence industry of Latvia, in the context of new generation warfare. During the conference, guests discussed reassurance measures, defence spending, defence capabilities, as well as future development possibilities for the defence industry in Latvia and the Baltics.
