More than 300 foreign and security policy experts from EU member states, candidate countries and partner countries, including parliamentarians, senior officials from the EU and NATO, as well as foreign and military experts took part in the conference organised by the Parliament (Saeima) of Latvia, from 4th to 6th March 2015.

Delegates of the Inter-parliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign and Security Policy and Common Security and Defence Policy (CFSP/CSDP) discussed Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine and military expansion of Muslim fundamentalists in Iraq, Syria and Libya, that have caused tensions and instability in regions both to the East and South of the European Union, and deliberated about the capacity of the EU to respond simultaneously to security threats in both of the EU’s neighbouring regions.

More information about the programme and speakers can be found in the website of the Parliamentary dimension of the Latvian Presidency.
