The Secretary of State of the Republic of Estonia, Heiki Loot, visited the Centre on October 27th. Mr Loot was accompanied by Ambassador Tõnis Nirk and met with Deputy Director Colonel Aivar Jaeski.
Colonel Jaeski briefed Mr Loot on the Centre's history, project status and main projects. He also gave an overview of the latest analysis on Russia's information campaign against Ukraine and on the weaponization of social media.
Mr Loot emphasized the importance of taking modern threats seriously in the Baltic states – Strategic Communications in Latvia, Energy Security in Lithuania, and Cyber Defence in Estonia. Ambassador Nirk stated that NATO institution presence in Latvia promotes security in the region.
Mr Heiki Loot has been the Estonian Secretary of State since 11 August 2003.
