The NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence is pleased to announce that the conference "Digital Frontlines 2026: The Human-Machine Frontier" will take place on 24 November 2026 in Riga, Latvia, and registration for participation is now open!
As emerging technologies reshape the relationship between human cognition, information, and conflict, new questions arise about autonomy, influence, and control. This year’s conference will explore how advances in neurotechnology, agentic AI, autonomous systems, and human-machine integration are transforming the security and defence landscape.
Through a keynote and three expert panels, we will examine three interconnected frontiers:
- The Cognitive Frontier - neurotechnology, human-machine integration, cognitive resilience, and exploitation.
- The Autonomous Frontier - agentic AI, autonomous systems, machine-speed decision-making, influence, and control.
- The Institutional Frontier - how defence and policy institutions can adapt to accelerating technological change.
Bringing together experts from academia, government, defence, and industry, Digital Frontlines 2026 will provide a platform to exchange perspectives on emerging capabilities, future developments, and their implications for security and defence.
