SCHOLARSHIP ACTIVITY
Conduct research on disinformation in social media, for instance with reference to malign influence in European elections. The focus may be on assessing key messages of disinformation campaigns, how tech and social media platforms enable new forms of manipulation, measuring the impact of automated (bot) or fake human-controlled (troll) user profiles, or using quantitative methods to identify patterns in adversarial communication.
In addition to the research activities, the candidate would be expected to present the results of the research in seminars and workshops and produce a report at the end of project; contribute to ongoing projects as appropriate.
In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation. To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary activities.
